My Story

I have a life long interest in the care of people. My mother had severe Rheumatoid Arthritis all of my life, she was 40 years old when I was born. My father was a Prisoner of War in Singapore and also had disabilities and mental scars associated with that experience. Both parents were inspirational to me, in the way they lived their lives, successfully, in the best way they could, with minimal professional support.

The personal experiences and insight I gained whilst supporting them to maintain their independence have proved invaluable in understanding the reality of the needs of a client, their families and their carers.

I decided to formalise the knowledge I had gained already in my personal life and develop it into my profession.

Now, with over 25 years of experience of managing high quality care provision, I recognise that, if ever there was a time when older people and their families need A Port in a Storm it is now.

So, the next story we talk about will be yours.

Please call me for an initial chat and to book a consultation.

During my personal and professional life I have developed a wide range of knowledge and experience of different conditions and situations and their effects on everyday life. I understand that impacts are felt by children, partners and neighbours, as well as by the individual themselves.

During my career I have created and managed plans of care and support for clients living with a range of conditions including Dementia, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinsons, Stroke, Heart Disease, Brain Injury, MS  and Macular Degeneration / Sight Impairments. I also have experience in Spinal Injury and in End of Life Care.

I have recruited and  trained many people working in the care profession on aspects of all of the above and  trained on all aspects of the Care Certificate required to be achieved by all professional carers.

I also have trained & supported with Moving & Handling Procedures including the use of moving & positioning equipment.

As a Registered Manager by the Care Quality Commission I have managed Care Packages in both the  Live In Care & Domiciliary Care Sector. These services were rated as Good in all areas.

Most recently I held General Manager responsibility and oversight of all areas of the business for an Outstanding rated Care Provider in both Live in Care and Domiciliary Care  covering West, North & Mid Norfolk.

I have a current enhanced CQC DBS certificate.
